Families and Carers.

 

Headway East Northants aims to support families and carers in a variety of different ways. We were delighted to receive funding for a Family Support Worker from Northamptonshire County Council and made the appointment late in 2009. The same funding enabled the charity to appoint a Volunteer Coordinator who will recruit volunteer mentors who will support brain injured people within their own communities, thus taking some of the pressure off family and carers.

 

Headway East Northants provides day services to brain injured people enabling families and carers to receive respite. The charity is funded through direct fundraising , statutory bodies or those who pay privately. We have appropriate agreements in place to provide day services on behalf of Northamptonshire County Council and also individual agreements through Self Directed Support (SDS), Direct Payments or Personal Budgets.

The charity also refers family members to the Family Support Group run the first Tuesday of the month at Kemsley. Click here to go to information on the Family Support Group.

 

Currently we are able to offer some counselling sessions for families and carers of brain injured people. This completely confidential service can be accessed through Headway East Northants and is available to everyone including those not currently accessing other services provided by the charity.

 

Through our affiliation to Headway UK, the national organisation we offer a range of on line and free phone support, advice and information to family and carers.

 

The charity welcomes comments from families and carers of brain injured people about what services we should provide. We aim to evolve new services as and when they are needed. Please address all comments either directly to:
