What will happen when I contact the charity?

Step One: We will be invited to the centre where you will meet the Services Manager. They will explain the services provided and ask you what you feel you can offer. Volunteering for Headway is an important role and we need to ensure that you are prepared to embrace the ethos and belief system of the service.

You will be given an opportunity to look around the centre and meet the staff, other volunteers and the service users.

Step Two: You will be given an application form to take away and carefully read. It contains some of the essential policies and procedures you will need to agree to before becoming a volunteer. You will also be given a form to complete to enable us to carry out an enhanced Criminal Records Bureau check (CRB). Please note that having a criminal record may not exclude you from volunteering with Headway.

Step Three: Once all checks have been successfully completed and references have been returned you will be invited to become a volunteer.

There are training opportunities to enhance your role with the expectation that you will take part in some essential training courses.
