Headway East Northants warmly welcomes your support and we offer a number of opportunities to ‘Get Involved’. Interested in using some spare time to volunteer? Then we’d love to hear from you! Got a hobby or skill you’d like to share? Have an amazing fundraising idea in mind? Give us a call!
Maybe you’re a member of a band, run a monthly quiz night, or you’re a classic car enthusiast. If you’ve got some spare time you could dedicate to us, and enjoy spending time with people, we want to hear from you.
You can contact us by phone or email, and we are also on Facebook via the link below, so please take a moment to have a look, and of course, to ‘like and share’ our page!
Volunteer to support our clients
Everyone has something to offer and so why not share that ‘something’ and become a Volunteer at Headway East Northants?
It’s a great idea for so many reasons. Not only will you help improve quality of life of a brain injury survivor, but you’ll also benefit those in the local community, open up opportunities for development of skills, get some time to socialise with our terrific team, and above all, have fun doing it. There really is so much to gain in return!
Whether you’re creative with materials or craft, have a musical skill, enjoy games, puzzles or gardening, or simply enjoy socialising, we would LOVE to hear from you, regardless of whether you have an entire day to spare or just an hour or two.
You’ll not only have fun with a wonderful group of people in a warm, welcoming environment, but you’ll also benefit and enrich someone’s life. You’ll be welcomed and supported by our friendly and experienced team of staff. Centre visits and ‘taster sessions’ are no problem to arrange. You don’t have to have experience of working with those with brain injury – it just matters that you’re patient, encouraging and supportive.
For further information about volunteering at our Centre, please call on 01933 652311 or email our Deputy Manager, Becky Lake, on [email protected]
Remember – to make a difference in someone’s life, you don’t have to be beautiful, perfect, brilliant or rich. You just have to care.
Here’s just one example of the difference volunteering can make, both for clients AND for you:
Volunteer Dave, who’s been with us since August of 2018. Dave has settled in really well at HEN, and his guitar sessions on Tuesday mornings are proving very popular, both with experienced players and novices.
The sessions are fun and informal, with all genres of music enjoyed. Everyone is encouraged to “have a go” regardless of ability or experience, and our clients have really impressed Dave with the speed at which they’re picking things up.
Dave says, “It’s a lovely feeling to see a client’s confidence boosted and to be a part of making that happen.”
Supporters
There are so many ways you can help us to support brain injury survivors and their families. Here are just a few tasters!
Corporate Support
Headway East Northants depends on the generous support of organisations and their employees. Without corporate support, we simply wouldn’t be able to continue the work we do.
We enjoy strong relationships with the supermarkets Morrisons and Tesco, who offer amazing donations of food/drink/sundries for our fundraiser coffee mornings and barbecues, and even plants for our beautiful new garden. We’re thrilled to have been chosen by Wellingborough Golf Club as one of their two local charities chosen to support over 2019.
We are also very proud of the close bonds we have within the local business community. The simplest donation really can make a world of difference to us! So think about adopting us as your ‘Charity of the Year’ to support, or encourage staff to fundraise for Headway East Northants. Charity involvement promotes teamwork, develops leadership skills, builds confidence and helps communication and creativity thrive.
Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is an easy, efficient and flexible way to donate to Headway East Northants by a direct deduction from your monthly wages.
Your regular contribution will mean that Headway East Northants can continue to provide support to brain injury survivors in the long term, and will also help us to budget and plan ahead more effectively. There are many benefits to this type of donating:
It is tax-effective, so Headway East Northants will receive both your donation, AND the tax you’d have paid on that amount – so there are no Gift Aid forms to fill in.
Payroll Giving donations are deducted before tax, so for each £1.00 you give, it will actually only cost you 80p. If you’re a higher-rate taxpayer, it’ll cost just 60p.
It can be for any amount – it simply depends entirely on what you feel you’d like to donate.
It enables you to budget for supporting Headway East Northants each month.
Take on a challenge!
Ever fancied doing something totally different for a great cause? Whether it’s that sponsored run or swim, bake-off contest, disco or maybe something totally crazy, we want to hear from you!
Do it – take up that challenge for Headway East Northants and raise money to support us. Each and every penny makes real differences to lives. As an example, back in 2016, some of our supporters climbed the Giant White Mountain in Iceland, and also took part in a skydive! However, don’t worry if that sort of thing is a bit too wild. We’re just as delighted to hear from you if you’re thinking of something like a tombola, raffle or bake sale!
Fundraising
Fundraising is crucial to ensure that Headway East Northants continues to offer its current services and to realise our commitment to continuous life improvement for our clients. Fundraise for Headway East Northants, have fun and make a difference! Together, we can ensure that we continue to provide and develop the services we offer brain injury survivors, and their families.
If you would like to help us with our fundraising efforts we would love to hear from you – please contact Laura Richards, Admin and Fundraising Coordinator, on [email protected]
Fundraising Principles
We can only continue to enrich the lives of brain injury survivors with your help. However, we fully respect the fact that donations should always be about choice.
What we will NEVER do:
Cold-call you (nor do we employ any agencies whatsoever to do this)
Employ people to approach you in the street
Give you a ‘hard sell’
Bombard you with mailshots
Share or sell your details or personal information
What we WILL do:
Provide you with all the support you might need if you choose to take on a fundraising challenge in aid of Headway East Northants
Allow you to control how much information you wish to receive from Headway East Northants
Respect your privacy – always.
Thank you. Every donation we receive helps improve and enrich life post-brain injury.
London Marathon
Raising money for Headway East Northants by running the Virgin London Marathon
Each and every runner does SUCH a phenomenal job, not only with all the hard work they put into their physical training but also their incredible fundraising efforts – alongside juggling work and family commitments too. We couldn’t be prouder, and are so grateful that the guys chose Headway East Northants to support!
Why not consider running for us? Not only will you be fulfilling an incredible personal challenge, but you’ll also be helping raise funds for our charity to empower and enrich the lives of adults with acquired brain injury, as well as providing invaluable support and respite to their families.
The Virgin London Marathon is a truly special event, and from the moment a runner secures a place, we’ll be there for them every step of the way, keeping in touch regularly to ensure that our runners are confident and well-supported.
The quotes below from our runners say it all, we think!
“I want to send huge thanks to everyone at Headway East Northants for the very special ‘good luck’ card. I felt quite emotional when reading it, and would love you to convey my thanks to everyone there. It will definitely help me with my last bits of training, and even more so on the day when I’ll have time to reflect on what I am doing, and why. Thank you for your continued support, and to everyone at Headway for being so kind.” Suzie Watts, 2018 Marathon runner, who later described her experience with the Marathon as “life-changing”.
“Thank you very much for the Team UPN Certificate that arrived the other day! It is taking pride of place on my office wall! It was great to be involved in Team HEN, the best marathon build-up and experience yet!” Andrew Spencer, UPN Director and Marathon runner
